In The top of the second inning on May 18, 2017, Giancarlo Stanton smacked this ball for a double to left fielder Cody Bellinger. The ball left the batt at an exit velocity of 113.92 MPH. Already down to the Dodgers 1-0, the Marlins were hoping to build on this hit to take the lead. On the very next pitch, Hyun-Jin Ryu bounced the ball past the catcher. Stanton aggressively tried to take third base but was thrown out. Unfortunately, on the very next pitch, Justin Bour hit a home run to tie the game. Had Stanton been on base, the Marlins would have had a lead. J.T. Realmuto followed the homerun with another hard hit double, but Christian Colon and J.T. Riddle both lined out to end the inning. Los Angeles scored three runs in the bottom of the second inning, and never looked back as they went on to defeat the Miami Marlins 7-2. The loss dropped the Marlins to 14-26 on the season, and in last place in the division.
