The Pirates and the Twins played a doubleheader in Pittsburgh on April 25, 2018. Miguel Cabrera stepped into the batter’s box against Enny Romero with Jeimer Candelario on first base and no outs. Cabrera hit this ball 340 feet into right field on the first pitch he saw for a double, his second double of the game, in the top of the eighth inning. This baseball stayed in the game for the next batter, Nicholas Castellanos. One the first pitch to Castellanos, Romero bounced the ball past the catcher, allowing Jeimer Candelario to score and Miguel Cabrera to move up to third base on the wild pitch. A new ball was brought into the game and Castellanos singled to right field, scoring Cabrera to give the Tigers an 11-7 lead. Detroit would score two more runs in the game, while Pittsburgh would score three in the bottom of the eighth inning. Detroit won the game by a final score of 13-10, to take the first game of the doubleheader. Later in the day, Pittsburgh would beat the Tigers in the late game. When the day was done, the Tigers sat in second place with a 10-12 record, three games behind the Indians.
