The Angels headed north of the border for a series against the Blue Jays in July 2017. The game was all Angles up until the ninth inning. Mike Trout stepped up to bat in the first inning and hit this ball on the first pitch he saw 249 feet to left fielder Steve Pearce. For Trout, this was career hit number 988, and career single 512. One batter later, Albert Pujols would bring Trout home with his first of two home runs in this game. Entering the bottom of the ninth inning, the Angles led 10-4, and the Blue Jays had never overcome such a deficit in team history in the final inning. It wasn’t until the sixth batter that the Blue Jays recorded their first out, at which point they had runners on second and third base, and had scored three runs. The next batter, Kendrys Morales would walk to bring Steve Pearce up as the potential winning run with one out and the bases loaded. Pearce took the first two pitches for balls before lifting a fastball over the left field wall for a walk-off grand slam. This was the second walk-off grand slam hit by Pearce in four days. With the surprising loss, the Angels dropped to 51-55 where they trail the Astros by 18 games.
