The Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals met in Miami on May 10, 20017 for the third game in a four-game series. The Cardinals had won the first two games, and the Marlins were looking to come out of the series with a split. In the bottom of the first inning, Christian Yelich hit a home run to give the Marlins an early 1-0 lead. This ball entered the game for the next at-bat, as Marcell Ozuna walked on five pitches. The ball remained in the game for Giancarlo Stanton who hit a fastball to left field for a single. This hit by Stanton was the 824th hit of his career, and it was one of his harder hits, leaving the bat with a launch speed of 114.44 MPH. A new baseball entered the game for the next batter, Justin Bour who hit a home run to score both Ozuna and Stanton and give the Marlins a 4-0 lead. The Cardinals, however, battled back, scoring three runs in the third, three more in the sixth, and one more in the seventh on their way to a 7-5 win. This loss dropped Miami to 13-20.
