As the 2014 season was winding down, the San Francisco Giants were fighting for the wild card going into their game against the Rockies in Colorado on September 2nd. Buster Posey knew his team needed him, and he was going to deliver this evening. Trailing the Rockies 7-1, Posey led off the sixth inning with a line drive home run to left field. When Posey came up to bat again in the seventh inning, he saw this ball as the fourth pitch of his at-bat. At this point, the Giants had clawed back to 7-4. Posey hit this pitch to centerfield for a double. Both Angel Pagan and Joe Panik scored to bring the Giants to within 1. This baseball has seen enough and was replaced when Pablo Sandoval batted next. Sandoval popped out for the second out of the inning. However, with Posey still on second, Hunter Pence hit a single to drive Posey home to tie the game 7-7. The Giants kept the rally going, scoring three more runs before the third out was recorded to end the top half of the inning. In the eighth inning, Posey hit another double with a man on base, batting in his fourth run of the game, and then scoring on another Hunter Pence batted ball, this time a fielding error to make the score 12-7. The Giants improved to 76-63 with this win, still trailing the Dodgers in their division. However, things would work out for the Giants, as they would go on to win their third World Series in six years at the end of the season.
