The Minnesota Twins hosted the Boston Red Sox on the evening of May 13, 2014. Most of the Red Sox offense was driven by Ortiz in this game. Big Papi hit a solo home run in the first and fourth inning. Ricky Nolasco was on the mound in the top of the sixth inning when Shane Victorino led off with a triple. This ball was brought into play for David Ortiz as the second batter in the inning. This ball was thrown for a first-pitch, called strike. For the second offering, a 79.6 MPH splitter was roped to left field for a single. Shane Victorino scored. The ball remained in play for Mike Napoli to build the count to 3-1 before flying out to Danny Santana in center field. This single cut Minnesota's lead to 6-3. Later in the game, Ortiz drove Dustin Pedroia in for a run off a 7th inning single to cut the Twins lead to 5-6. However, at the end of the day, the Twins would win, 8-6 on a walk-off home run.
