Colorado hosted the Washington Nationals for an early-season series in April 2017. Bryce Harper came up to bat in the top of the first inning with no outs and the bases empty. He looked at the first two pitches, before hitting this ball in the third pitch of the at-bat up the left field line for a double. This was the first of four hits for Harper in this game as he had his fifth career four-hit game. Later in the game, Bryce Harper scored a run when one of his singles put him on base for a Ryan Zimmerman home run, and he drove in another run with his eighth-inning single. The Nationals won this game 11-4, and improved overall to 15-6, which was good enough for a 4 game lead in the division, and tied the record for the best start after 21 games in the franchise history, tying the 1979 and 1981 Montreal Expos.
