Paul Goldschmidt led off the bottom of the seventh inning in the April 18, 2018 game between the Diamondbacks and the Giants. This baseball was thrown for the second and third pitches of the at bat. After taking a ball, Goldschmidt hit this ball to Hunter Pence in left field for a double, Goldschmidt’s 1024th career hit. The next three batters were not as successful as A.J. Pollock struck out, Daniel Descalso popped out to right field, and Alex Avila struck out to end the inning. This game remained tied at 2 runs apiece going into the tenth inning. In the top of the tenth inning, San Francisco took a 4-2 lead. Arizona managed to make up one of those runs but ultimately lost 4-3. Even with the loss, the Diamondbacks were able to keep their hold on first place with a 12-5 record.
