The Astros visited the Padres in San Diego for a battle between National League rivals. Craig Biggio recognized the importance of an early lead and hit the second pitch of the game out of the park for a home run to give the Astros an early 1-0 lead. Brad Ausmus followed up with a single, as did Jeff Bagwell to put runners on first and second with no outs. The next three batters made outs to end the inning. In the second inning, when Biggio batted again, he had runners on every base. He again hit the second pitch of the at-bat, this time to centerfield for a sacrifice fly, and tied the game when Charlie Hayes scored. Two batters later, Jeff Bagwell gave the Astros a 3-2 lead when he hit a single and drove home Julio Lugo. Houston scored three more runs in the inning, to take a 6-2 lead from a Lance Berkman single, and a Moises Alou double that scored two runners, including Jeff Bagwell. San Diego made it a 6-2 game in the third, but that was all San Diego could put on the board; as Houston went on to win 7-4. This ball is game used from the May 30, 2001 game between the Astros and Padres, but is not attributed to a specific play.
