With the city of Houston emerging from Hurricane Harvey, the Houston Astros hosted the Texas Rangers at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida for the first of three games on August 29, 2017. In the bottom of the third inning, Jose Altuve would see this ball as a 92.6 MPH fastball which he hit right up the middle. Second baseman Rougned Odor deflected this hit to shortstop Elvis Andrus. Altuve reached on a single and drove home George Springer for his 1222nd career hit, and 392nd career RBI. This cut the Rangers lead in half, 4-2. Unfortunately for the Astros, that would be the end of their scoring, as Texas had 8 more players reach home in a 12-4 win. But Houston remained in first place in the AL West after this game with a record of 79-52 which was good enough for a 12 game lead over the Angels, and a 14 game lead over the Texas Rangers.
