Ozzie Albies and the Braves played the Nationals in Washington on April 11, 2018. The Braves had not held a lead at all in this series until the top of the first inning when Ozzie Albies hit his fourth career home run to give Atlanta a 1-0 lead. The margin stayed the same by the time the eighth inning came up, with Atlanta now holding a 2-1 lead. After Ender Inciarte grounded out, Ozzie Albies came up to bat. This baseball was used in the at-bat when Albies hit the ball sharply to third baseman Anthony Rendon for a single, his second hit of the game. But no run scored this inning. The Nationals tied the game in the bottom of the ninth to force extra innings. Both teams added a run in the eleventh to extend the game into the twelfth inning. Albies led off the inning with a single to center fielder Michael Taylor. Freddie Freeman hit a single of his own, and Nick Markakis walked to load the bases. Two batters later, Peter Bourjos hit a single that scored Freeman and Albies to put the Braves ahead 5-3 which would be the final score. The win gave the Braves a 7-5 record and put them in second place in the NL East behind the Mets.
